Calls for Video Assistant Referees were strengthened by a shocking call and non-call which both victimized Bayern Munich during Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final encounter with Real Madrid.
First, Arturo Vidal was wrongly shown his second yellow card of the match for a supposed foul, despite replays showing the Chilean produce a legal slide tackle.
The German side was on the wrong end of another unbelievable call in extra time that ultimately cost them a place in the semi-final when Cristiano Ronaldo scored the go-ahead goal to make it 4-3 on aggregate while clearly standing in an offside position.
